House of the Dragon is the Game of Throne’s successor show based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, a history of House Targaryen set 300 years before the events in GoT. The showrunners of House of the Dragon are Ryan Condal along with battle-tested GoT veteran Miguel Sapochnik.
Set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series tells the story of a turbulent period for House Targaryen, one that set sibling against sibling and dragon against dragon. The point of contention: who should rule on the Iron Throne, of course.
“If you’d like to know a bit more of what the show will be about… well, I can’t actually spill those beans,” Martin teased in his blog, “but you might want to pick up a copy of two anthologies I did with Gardner Dozois, Dangerous Women, and Rogues and then move on to ArchmaesterGyldayn’s history, Fire & Blood.”
Dangerous Women includes what press materials describe as a “35,000-word novella” by Martin called “The Princess and the Queen, or, the Blacks and the Greens,” which is “about the Dance of the Dragons, the vast civil war that tore Westeros apart nearly two centuries before the events of A Game of Thrones.”
Rogues, meanwhile, includes Martin’s story “The Rogue Prince, or, a King’s Brother,” which chronicles “the early life, adventures, misdeeds, and marriages of Prince Daemon Targaryen,” considered “one of the biggest rogues in the entire history of Ice and Fire.”
Finally, the novel Fire & Blood, released in November 2018, is the first novel of a two-part history of the Targaryens in Westeros.
“Centuries before the events of A Game of Thrones, House Targaryen — the only family of dragonlords to survive the Doom of Valyria — took up residence on Dragonstone,” according to the book’s description on the author’s site. “Fire & Blood begins their tale with the legendary Aegon the Conqueror, creator of the Iron Throne, and goes on to recount the generations of Targaryens who fought to hold that iconic seat, all the way up to the civil war that nearly tore their dynasty apart.”
House of the Dragon will be about Dance of the Dragons, the Targaryen civil war.
About George R.R. Martin’s involvement, we know only what he stated himself. George R.R. Martin stated: “I expect to be involved in [House of the Dragons] to some extent…and, who knows, if things work out, I may even be able to script a few episodes, as I did for the first four seasons of GAME OF THRONES. But… let me make this perfectly clear… I am not taking on any scripts until I have finished and delivered WINDS OF WINTER. Winter is still coming, and WINDS remains my priority, as much as I’d love to write an episode of HOUSE.”

#HouseOfTheDragon #DragonsExplained

The first season of House of the Dragon has just ended and it delivered on so many great things. And it gave us so- many-dragons!
About 11 dragons have appeared in season 1. About 12 dragons have appeared in season 1 (2 takes)
Some are big, some are tiny, and some are freaking gigantic.

The show is very well made, however with so many dragons and riders it’s a bit hard to keep track of who’s who and which Targaryen rides what dragon.

So to make things easier, we compiled a list of all the dragons that appear in season 1, and we will go over every dragon, explaining who rides each dragon and their history.

We will also talk about some dragons that didn’t appear in the show yet.
Don’t worry, there won’t be any spoilers, but we are going to reveal who is the biggest living dragon in Westeros.

Surprise, it’s not Vhagar, it’s not even Balerion. There’s a massive dragon out there and its identity and story are wild.

So let’s go over all the dragons in House of the Dragon season 1, as well as all the dragon-riders, the different sizes and the special attributes some dragons have. Including a dragon that shoots gold flames, and another one that has blue flames.

According to Ryan Condal and George R. R. Martin we will see about 17 dragons in the show. Season 1 introduced some of them. And Season 2 will give us more dragons and battles.

Few things before we start.
We will be focusing only on dragons that appeared in season 1 or relevant to the story. So we won’t talk about every dragon that ever lived.

We will mention the size of some of the dragons, but there are no exact measurements for the dragons in the show or the book Fire and Blood which the show is based on.
We will mention the size when it’s relevant though.

The final note is that some of the dragons in the show barely appeared on screen. So for the sake of keeping this video visually interesting, when we talk about some of these dragons we’re gonna have to use some random footage to make it work. Apologies in advance. Blame Doug.

What did I do?

Don’t worry bud, no one’s gonna stay mad at a dog for too long, it’s all good.

Wait….I’m a dog? I thought I’m a small dragon.

Ahem… moving on.

To explain dragons we must explain the Targaryens history, since they are intertwined with each other.

About 8 thousand years before the events of House of the Dragon, the Valyriaians in Essos discovered the first dragons. Essos is the continent that is across the narrow sea from Westeros.
According to the Valyrians, the dragons were born from a ring of volcanos called the Fourteen Flames, meaning 14 active volcanoes.
[Dragons came from moon] It is known…

This happened shortly after the Long Night ended in Westeros. Strange coincidence I’m sure.

The Valyrians mastered the secrets of commanding dragons and became the dragonlords.
Neither House of the Dragon nor Game of Thrones ever explained this, but it’s implied that the Valyrians used magic and blood to create a bond with the dragons.

With this power they built the greatest empire in the world, ruling the majority of the continent of Essos.

Despite all the Valyrian empire’s power, nothing could save them from the doom. In one day, the entire land just blew up, likely due to all the fourteen volcanoes erupting at once.

This cataclysmic event is known as the Doom of Valyria. All the Valyrians and their dragons burned, an entire empire just gone in an instant.

Only two Valyrian houses survived the doom, the Targaryens and the Velaryons.
With their naval prowess, House Velaryon arrived in Westeros even before the Targaryens.

Ser Tyland Lannister: Lord Jason Lannister’s younger brother, a cunning politician who replaces Corlys Velaryon as the Master of Ships.

Filming These House of the Dragon Scenes Was Intense

House of the Dragon has some of the most intense, difficult sequences for actors to perform. Milly Alcock shared her struggle with doing certain scenes with Emily Carey as well as Matt Smith’s disdain for performing all of his intimate scenes. One of the most difficult scenes in the series has to be in episode one when Queen Aemma is trying to give birth to her and King Viserys’ song. That scene was filmed on a closed set and was so brutal for Sian Brooke. She went through at least fourteen different takes and had fourteen different dresses handmade for her. She also had a ton of uncomfortable tubing strapped underneath her in order to convey how fatal the incision was. There were also some more comedic instances, like Matt Smith getting hit in the forehead with is own sword and slicing himself a bit. The actors also struggled with the intense intimacy scenes they had to shoot. Emily Carey was only seventeen when she read the script. There were scenes with her character and King Viserys’ character that are more intimate than she was comfortable with, considering the 30-year age difference. She was concerned about shooting it, but with a brilliant intimacy coordinator and Paddy Considine’s lovely demeanor, they were able to get through it. We also get into how much of a process it was for the tournament scene – they literally built an entire colosseum from scratch. We’ll be getting into all of this and more that made House of the Dragon super intense and at times very difficult for these actors to film.

Milly Alcock REVEALS How She Felt Filming In A Brothel..

Milly Alcock REVEALS How She Felt Filming In A Brothel..

Welcome back to Recap Zone. House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock has spoken out about the ‘shocking’ experience of filming scenes for the series in a brothel, where she claims extras were in sex positions for up to 12 hours. The actress, 22, who plays Rhaenyra Targaryen in the Game of Thrones spin-off, said she felt ‘overdressed’ while recording her scenes in the call house while surrounded totally naked people for a full day. She told the New York Post: ‘There were extras who we had just met who were like, 69-ing for 12 hours.

‘It’s pretty gnarly, we felt pretty overdressed because everyone else was nude.’ In the fourth episode of the HBO show, her character Rhaenyra is taken to the Westeros capital of King’s Landing where she visits a brothel with her uncle Daemon (Matt Smith), where the pair share a kiss. Milly had no idea what to expect as director Clare Kilner ensured the first time she set eyes on the brothel location was when she arrived to film her scenes. She explained: ‘That was our first time walking through the brothel, and he’s guiding her through the room with all of these other bodies. ‘So, that was quite shocking. You’re like, “This is kind of weird and silly”. She praised Matt for making her feel comfortable during the scenes, adding that the pair had an intimacy coordinator to help them perform convincingly. It comes after Emma revealed she was discouraged from meeting Emma D’Arcy, who plays the older version of her character. Milly, who plays Rhaenyra at the age of 15, revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that she had never seen Game of Thrones while she went through many rounds of auditions via Zoom, and revealed she was ‘shocked’ when learning how pivotal her role really was. ‘I was surprised. I was just really shocked,’ she added, while also revealing she got to catch up over FaceTime with Emily Carey and she took a walk with Fabian Frankel (Ser Criston Cole)… though director Miguel Sapochnik discouraged her from interacting with Emma D’Arcy.

Milly Alcock REVEALS The Truth About The HOTD Brothel Scene..

Milly Alcock REVEALS The Truth About The HOTD Brothel Scene..

Welcome back to Show Focus. Here’s some news for you about House of the Dragon. The now-infamous (and viral) scene between Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (Milly Alcock) and her uncle Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) at a brothel was long in the making with an intimacy coordinator on set for the “Game of Thrones” prequel series. And while Rhaenyra and Daemon are literally niece and uncle in the series, their steamy kiss has led to fans shipping the inevitable couple who seek to keep the Targaryen bloodline pure.

The scene has shocked many of the show’s viewers, even though House of the Dragon’s predecessor Game of Thrones never shied away from incestuous plotlines. Reflecting on filming the scene, Alcock told the New York Post: “Clare Kilner, our director, made sure that we hadn’t seen any of the brothel stuff until we were shooting. So, that was our first time walking through the brothel, and he’s guiding her through the room with all of these other bodies. So, that was quite shocking. You’re like, ‘This is kind of weird and silly.’” She added: “There were extras who we had just met who were like, 69-ing for 12 hours. It’s pretty gnarly. We felt pretty overdressed because everyone else was nude.” Alcock, 22, said the scene wasn’t awkward to film. “No, strangely enough. [Matt Smith and I] were just kind of mates,” she said. “So, it was quite comfortable. We had an intimacy coordinator, and we worked with her through the rehearsal process and blocked it out months before.” In related news, House of the Dragon’s fourth episode, “King of the Narrow Sea”, offered viewers perhaps its most shocking sex scene yet. During Monday’s (12 September) episode, Rhaenyra Targaryen (Milly Alcock) takes leave of the palace in secret and is led on a romp around Downtown King’s Landing by a cloaked figure. The figure in the cloak is, of course, her uncle Daemon (Matt Smith), the family bad boy who has returned to the city triumphant in his victory over the Crabfeeder, sporting a short new haircut and all.

Why House Of The Dragon Is REMOVING S*x Scenes..

Why House Of The Dragon Is REMOVING S*x Scenes..

Welcome back to Show Scope, today on the channel we are going to check out if House of the Dragon given up on sex + other related news. Many eons ago, back in the show’s watercooler heyday, I hosted an annual Game of Thrones pub quiz. Every year, the most popular round was the same: Name That Bum. The round involved projecting giant screenshots of isolated arses – Daenerys Targaryen’s pre-bath buttock-flash, Khal Drogo’s ponytail-swishing full moon – on the wall and asking the audience to name the proud owner. Well, it’s fortunate that no one’s asked me to host a House of the Dragon quiz yet, because the round would last approximately 30 seconds and the answer would be Matt Smith.

Of course, we’re only three episodes into this intriguing but thus-far rather pensive prequel, so anything could still happen and probably will. But by the third episode of Game of Thrones we’d already borne witness to an entire generation of rutting Lannister siblings, the ludicrously shag-happy alfresco wedding of Daenerys and Drogo and an absurd amount of background action at two pillow houses. So far in House of the Dragon, there’s been one decidedly awkward sequence in a house of ill repute, one brief moment of sexposition between Prince Daemon (Smith) and his paramour Mysaria (Sonoya Mizuno), which seemed to exist solely so rabid Doctor Who fans could live out their dream of seeing the erstwhile Time Lord’s alien bum cheeks, and one pornographic tapestry hanging in the quarters of the irksome Ser Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans). How long is this state of affairs expected to last? Will King Viserys (Paddy Considine) suddenly shrug off those weighty robes and show off his royal seat? Will newest heart-throb Fabien Frankel, who plays Ser Criston Cole, give viewers a glimpse beneath his white cloak and shiny armour? And does anyone actually want them to? The answers: probably no, probably yes, and well, it’s complicated. Watch the entire video to know if House of the Dragon given up on sex and other related news.
